A short two decades ago, TL attended a nighttime summer parade in Hachioji while living and teaching English in Tokyo.  There, a seed was planted as she was enthralled by the alluring sounds of taiko rhythms coming from the lantern-lit traditional floats, while the neighbourhood people chanted and pulled them through the streets.  Little did she know that years later, having long since returned to Canada, she would discover ensemble taiko as a fun and gratifying way of keeping a meaningful connection with Japanese culture.
